Seo Yoo-yung (1801-1894) is author who belong to a group of political power in 19 century, but he did not have an opportunity of political, social, economical self-achievement. His situation was due to his integrity. He did not lose gallantry. He, as an intelligentsia in the mid-19th century, had a consciousness of responsibility to history, race, people. And he carried out by literary figuration and personal practice. His th ought was fundamentally confucism, but he interested in antithese of Taoism, Buddhism, Doctrine of Wangyangming, Western learning. Because confucian idea was not realized in the present age.
