초등학생 공학기술 학습의 배경요인 조사 연구

A Survey on the Background Elements of Engineering Technology Learning in Elementary Students

본 연구에서는 초등학생들이 공학기술의 중요성을 자각하도록 하며 공학기술에 대한 새로운 시각을 가지고 스스로 이해하고 흥미를 가지도록 하기 위하여 초등학생들에게 창의적 공학기술 교육은 어떠해야 하는지에 초점을 두고 2단계에 걸쳐 연구를 진행하고자 한다. 여기서는 먼저 1단계로서 창의적 공학기술 교육 프로그램의 교육 내용 구성과 교수ㆍ학습 전략을 마련하기 위해 공학기술 학습에 영향을 미칠 수 있는 초등학생들의 공학기술 학습 배경 요인들을 조사하여 분석하였다. 여기서 조사 내용은 공학기술 경험도, 공학기술 선호도, 공학기술에 대한 태도, 친숙한 공학기술수업 형태와 교육 환경이다. 설문지는 전국 25개교에 총 1,450부를 배부하여 1,371부 회수되었다. 회수된 설문지는 불충실하게 응답했다고 판단되는 21부를 제외한 1,350부(남: 701부, 여: 649부)를 통계 처리하였다. 설문 내용의 내적 일관성을 파악하기 위하여 신뢰도를 검증한 결과, Cronbach s α 계수가 0.852로 나타나, 각 문항별 내적 일관성이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 통계분석을 위해 SPSS 16.0 for Windows 통계패키지를 사용하였으며, 연구목적을 달성하기 위해 평균, 교차분석, t검정 분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과를 살펴보면 다음과 같다. 1) 공학기술의 선호도 중 공학기술의 영향 변인은 비교적 관심이 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 2) 공학기술에 대한 태도 중 공학기술과 공학기술교육에 관한 인식은 약간 보통 이상으로 나타났고, 공학기술 관련 직업에 대한 인식은 남녀 관계없이 긍정적인 편이다. 3) 공학기술, 공학기술교육, 공학기술 관련 직업에 대한 흥미는 약간 부정적으로 나타났다. 앞으로 1단계의 결과에 근거하여, 창의적 공학기술 교육을 위한 공학기술 교육 프로그램을 개발하여 공학기술 교육을 통해 초등학생에게 어떠한 교육적 효과가 있는 지를 검증할 예정이다.

This study was purposed to investigate the status of background elements of engineering technology learning in elementary students and to develop the teaching⋅learning strategy and the education contents composition of the creative engineering technology education program for elementary students. The contents for survey were made up of criteria such as the engineering technology experience, engineering technology preference, attitude about engineering technology, class form, and class environment. The data were collected by questionnaire from 1,350 elementary students in 25 schools on a national scale analyzed by SPSS/PC+ package program. The major finding of this study were follows; 1. Elementary students showed a bit low interest of below the average about the effect variables of engineering technology out of the engineering technology preference. 2. Elementary students showed a bit high recognition of over the average about the engineering technology and the engineering technology education out of the attitude about the engineering technology, and showed a bit positive side of over the average about the occupation recognition related to the engineering technology. 3. Elementary students showed a bit negative interest of below the average about the occupation related to the engineering technology, the engineering technology, and the engineering technology education.
