이 연구에서의 주요 내용은 다른 교과와 구별되는 실과의 비교 우위 가치를 탐색하고 이어 실과의 발전 방안을 제시하는 것이었다. 실과의 비교 우위 가치로서 확인 및 탐색된 것은 교과의 학문 특성의 관점에서는 실용성, 실과의 생성과 성정 과정에서 나타나는 생활 중심의 교육 내용, 교수-학습 방법의 측면에서는 노작을 통한 실천성, 사회의 구조적 모순 해결 요구의 관점에서는 성평등의 실현이었다. 실과의 이러한 가치를 의식한 발전 방안은 체험 중심의 교육 내용 구성, 이론과 실습의 통합, 통합 주제 형식의 단원 구성, 지역적 특성을 반영한 교육 소재 개발, 상황 중심의 평가, 실습장 및 시설, 교구의 완비, 교사 교육의 강화, 실과 전담교사제 운영 강화이었다.
The purposes of this study were to explore comparative advantage values and to suggest development plans in Practical Arts Eduction. The results of this study were as follows. Comparative advantage values of Practical Arts Education are practical use as nature of the study, subject content based on life, practice based on laborious work, gender equality subject. And development plans of Practical Arts Education are constructing subject system based on activity, integrating theory and practice, constructing units in combined contents, developing educational themes based on regional characteristic, enforcing situation-centered evaluation, completing equipment/facilities and practical laboratory for Practical Arts, enforcing teacher education in the department of Practical Arts Education, enforcing full charge teacher system for Practical Arts subject.
