Seo Yoo-yung (1801-1874) is author who wrote an anthology (Woongosiseon), collections of unofficial story (Keumkyepildam), a full length sino-novel (Yookmidanggi). In this thesis, jookjisa, a type of sino-poetry, written by Seo Yoo-yung is studied. His literary characteristic reflects complex figure of a transitional period from mediaeval to modem age. He succeeds to confucisfs literary thought. Although he evaluates poetry high seemingly, value of novel and unofficial story is not degraded. World of his poetry, 269 parts remained, is characterized by romantic mood, reflection on life, inclination to Taoism and Buddhims, understanding people’s pain and trouble of life. Many poetic works named jookjisa, continues pieces of a quatrain with seven Chinese characters in each line and draws various features of rural community, are produced in the late Yi dinasty. Seo Yoo-yung wrote 4 Jookjisa and 5 poetic works like jookjisa. (Seohojookjisa) and (Doohyupjookjisa) skech natural features of Yangju rural community. (Kwandongjookjisa) given to female poet Keum-won, is in romantic mood. In (Haedongjookjisa), hundreds of pieces are lost and only 2 pieces remained, he poetizes our unofficial history and tale without historical consciousness. In (Reciting in Songdo), on the way of exile to Samdeung, his historical consciousness is rather expressed. (8 sceneries of Hwanghakru) is written in exile place, but there are no melancholy and critical consciousness. We can find only self-sufficient figure of Seo Yoo-yung in advanced age.
