The Internal Contradiction of the Tendency of the Rate of Profit to Fall and the Crisis: The Crisis Theory of Kim Soohaeng

김수행 교수의 공황이론은 이윤율 저하 법칙의 내적 모순과 이 모순적 경향에서 나타나는 여러 계기나 상황들에 의해 공황이 발생한다고 주장한다. 공황은 국가의 경제개입에 따라 곧바로 회복으로 가는 위기국면에 그칠 수도 있고, 기업과 금융기관의 대규모 도산과 대량실업을 초래하는 공황국면으로 발전할 수도 있다. 또한 세계화의 진전으로 국내 공황이 세계시장으로 확대되는 세계대공황을 낳을 수도 있다. 김수행 교수의 공황이론과 현실 공황의 분석은 위기와 공황의 구분, 이윤율 저하의 경향 법칙의 해석과 공황 발생 계기, 세계대공황과 구조위기 등과 관련된 논의들을 불러일으켰다. 일부에 대해서는 김수행 교수의 반론이 충분히 이루어지기도 했지만, 일부는 논의들이 더 구체화되어야 하고, 또 김수행 교수의 공황이론과 현실 공황 분석도 더 논리적으로 그리고 체계적으로 발전해야 할 과제를 가지고 있다.

Kim Soohaeng had developed the theory of crisis in capitalist economy basing on the law of ‘the tendency of the rate of profit to fall’(TRPF) elaborated by Marx. Kim argued that the crisis occurs in the moments or situations that is formed from the development of contradiction inherent in the law of TRPF, not from the actual fall of the rate of profit. He also divided the crisis period of business cycle into crisis and crash, emphasizing whether the government can or can’t control the development of crash(the phase of the default of firms and the rising of unemployment) from crisis(the phase of the distortion of the financial markets). He also coined the term ‘the great crisis of world’ which describe the period which the change of the structure of capitalist mode of production, the relationship of classes, and the relationship of states are needed.
