In this paper, I discuss and examine the following word order restriction in Korean comparatives: The overt compared constituent (DP or AdvP) does not undergo scrambling, unlike regular DPs or AdvPs. During the discussion, adapting Choe (2014) s proposal which suggests a functional category to explain the structure of comparatives, I speculate that the compared constituent is the projection of the functional category and that it may not undergo scrambling because of the following word order restriction: A certain type of functional category projection containing a null operator does not undergo scrambling in Korean.
