(Farmer’s Attitudes toward the Pork Checkoff Program in Korea)

In this study, we surveyed and analyzed farmers’ awareness of the pork checkoff program and the associated activities in the program to promote pork consumption as well as their acceptance to the allocated fee (600won/head). Although farmers recognize the importance of the checkoff program in promoting pork consumption, some discrepancies in attitudes toward the program are found between board members and producers. Therefore, it is highly recommended to more actively publicize the importance of the pork checkoff program to producers. We concluded this study by suggesting several solutions, derived from our findings, to improve the pork checkoff program.
