This article explores consumers perceptions and attitude toward genetically modified (GM) foods by looking at the level of concerns over those foods and willingness to pay for GM corn oil, manufactured from corn with strengthening thresholds for adventitious presence (AP). A survey shows that the most important information for GM foods consumers need is a safety. Consumers require an enhanced safety review about safety assessment to solve their anxiety about GM foods. The results demonstrate that consumers who have heard about GM foods before are more likely to pay more. As consumers consider a country-of-origin as an important factor when buying foods, probability of paying more for corn oil with intensifying thresholds is higher.
