(Importance-Performance Analysis of Farmers Using Livestock Liquid Manure)

To devise livestock manure utilization, this study analyzed importance and performance of farmers using livestock liquid manure by using IPA technique. Typically the main results and implications are as following. First, the surveyed farmers’ agricultural products were rice (35.6%), fruits (17.8%), vegetables (43.6%) and their average age was 53.1 years old. The reason of livestock manure use was mainly recommendations from other farmers or agriculture-related organizations. 46.5% of them were experiencing conflicts with neighbours because of stench. Second, for the importance-performance of livestock liquid manure, importance was assessed by stench, fermentation degree, dusting impact, ingredient indication and uniform quality, whilst performance was done by chemical fertilizer reduction, circulation agriculture acknowledgement, subsidy and yields. Third, according to the matrix comparison analysis of pre- and post-use of livestock liquid manure, areas that need to be improved were shown at IV quadrant, which were ingredient indication, recommended rate of application, uniform quality, soil pollution degree, expert consultation/education, stench degree and ferment-ation degree. Therefore, it would be necessary to develop a systematic and comprehensive approach in order to improve the IV quadrant items. Furthermore, an intensive improvement would be required to achieve the desired results for the livestock liquid manure resource project.
