An Analysis of Factors Affecting Rural Life Satisfaction in Gyeongsangbuk-do

This study is to analyze factors that influence rural life satisfaction by using the producer panel data of Gyeongsangbukdo Agricultural Research and Extension Services. The producer panel data is comprised of rural life satisfaction, competitive power for quality, competitive power for price, supply and demand of labor, and individual characteristic, including agricultural income level, cultivation experience, age, cultivation area, and main crop area ratio of total farm area. Paired T-test was conducted to figure out differences of the satisfaction variables by year and was of significance at the 10% significance level. Spearman correlation between factors affected to rural life satisfaction was analyzed, which showed that there were differences by year. Panel Ordered Probit Model was used to find out the actors that have effects on the rural life satisfaction in the long term. A fixedeffects model and random-effects model went through various statistical assessments, and finally the random-effects model was chosen. As a result, it is found that the rural life satisfaction is influenced by competitive power for quality, competitive power for price, supply and demand of labor, agricultural income level, and main crop area ratio of total farm area.
