Social Capital and Effectiveness of integrated Rural Development Project in Developing Country : A Case Study about Official Development Assistance (ODA) of Myanmar

This study wanted to find a correlation between social capital accumulation and business effectiveness through a micro-approach. in the integrated rural development project in Myanmar (Hlegu Town), which considered as a intensive support model by Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in terms of Official Development Assistance (ODA). Theoretical background of this study is based on the concept of social capital, and this study has been made with a question of What is the correlation between the effectiveness of the project and accumulation of social capital in developing countries? The analysis results show that effectiveness of the project in three villages in Myanmar is different according to the ownership of villagers based on reliability for the project and voluntary motivations, depending on the role of community leaders, and also sustainability and extensibility of the project in the three villages were expected to be differed. In conclusion, the formation and accumulation of social capital could be the most important factor to success of the rural development ODA project.
