The increase of GHGs emission threatens sustainability of agriculture which depends on climate conditions and is vulnerable to the change in the climate pattern. However, it also provides a chance for changes in agriculture and rural communities. Agriculture is not only sources, but also sinks of GHGs through removal or sequestration of carbon and methane. There have been many efforts around the world to improve agriculture s ability to sequester GHGs and to seek ways for economic benefits through the Kyoto mechanism. The Kyoto mechanism allows a supplementary means for compliance, CDM and JI projects. A CDM project is hosted and funded by a developing country, while a JI project is hosted and funded by different Annex Ⅰcountries. The investment in CDM project is increasing rapidly as the first implementation period began in 2008. The purpose of this study is to develop a strategic framework for Korea‘s agriculture under the Kyoto mechanism. To this end, the determinant factors affecting the price of primary CER using UNFCCC CDM Project Development Document (PDD) data are analyzed. Then, strategies and procedures are suggested to link agricultural, energy, waste management policies to the CDM projects to create economics opportunities for the Korean agriculture.
