An Analysis on FTA Utilization of Agri-Food Export Firms

The objective of this study is to find out problems and difficulties of domestic agri-food exporters which actually export agri-food to FTA partner countries and seek for the ways to maximize the FTA utilization in agri-food exports. For this study, we surveyed agri-food exporters by email, phone, fax for one month in march 2014 and analyzed using logit analysis for 97 valid questionnaires. According to the result, domestic agri-food exporters have difficulties in FTA utilization mainly due to lack of information and complex procedures related to the place of origin, policies. To solve these problems, we need to expand the provision of information regarding FTAs, diffuse the management system of FTA certificates of origin, and promote the exporters’ utilization of FTAs. Also certain level of government support can be an effective strategy to cultivate FTA specialists in FTA partners in the mid and long term.
