In this study, managerial performance information for 31 grape farms was collected using the results of diagnosis and evaluation model for farms as a source of information, and an analytical data base. Farmers were asked to the performance level of 15 quantitative and 8 qualitative diagnostic indicators with the BSC framework to overcome the shortcomings of financial data analysis. The software used for training and creating the SOM is called the SOM toolbox for Matlab version 2.0 (2005), and is based on the Kohonen self-organizing algorithm. The results of this research are very promising and confirm the efficiency and robustness of clustering methods of grape farms using quantitative and qualitative data of BSC concept. Moreover, the results have been interpreted easily and match economic theories, which was one of main goals in this study. The conventional research in the area of strategic groups and competitive strategy has focused mainly on describing the past and current structure of strategic groups. In contrast, this study has focused on trying to predict the future structure of strategic groups. These benchmark strategic groups should be the target for strategic planners in directing the entire farm into viable future positions.
