A Computer Model for Economic Analysis of Cattle Farm

The computer base model developed in this study extends the existing computer model, COWAID in two ways. First, the COWAID model focuses on breeding, feeding, and disease control. However, the newly developed model focuses on productivity, investment, cost efficiency, and other management factors. Second, unlike the COWAID model, the new model does not require detailed historical production and accounting data at the farm level. The new model has been designed to conduct economic analysis of cattle farm management using simple survey data and/or simple operation data that are frequently available from most cattle farms. The new computer base model will help provide the opportunity of economic analysis of farm management even to small cattle farms that do not maintain detailed historical production and accounting data.
