Performance Analysis of Local Asset Based Industry Development Project in Korea

This study focused on analyzing how much effects rural industrialization support projects have on rural regions. The actual conditions of rural industrialization policy support projects were examined and their performance was analyzed. We can see that a rural industry development policy such as the Local Asset Based Industry Development Project (LAIDP) discussed in this study is important as a support strategy directed at underdeveloped regions. According to the results of the performance analysis of the LAIDP, it is analyzed that the project has a positive effect of generating 2.2-5.5 billion won per project zone, an estimation which does not include indirect effects such as the employment effect and farm income. The study confirmed that the project has a positive effect in the regions when it is underway and that continuous undertaking of a rural industry development policy such as the LAIDP can bring about regional effects.
