한우고기 대중국 수출경쟁력 분석

Analysis of the Export Competitiveness of Korea Beef(Hanwoo) in China

Chinese have increased their income and showed significant interest in health. They have demanded more consumption. Especially, there is the competitive import market of high-quality beef for rich costumers due to distrust of the domestic products. Beef exporters such as Australia, the U.S. have made big efforts in order to expand their market share, on the hand Korea has low market share because of poor price competitiveness. In the paper, we analyze Chinese beef industries and possibilities of Hanwoo beef export base on quality competitiveness by literature review and case studies. We identify two beef markets: the one which is reasonable cheap and low-quality market, and the other which is expensive and high-quality market. We suppose that Hanwoo beef exporters adopt strategic approaches to the latter. In order to achieve them, Korea should attain and hold ‘FMD free country‘, need its brand power and supply chains to the Chinese market.
