은평구의 지역사회 자원을 활용한 환경교육 프로그램 개발 및 적용

The Development and Application of Environmental Education Program Using Local Community Resources of Eunpyeong-gu

본 연구는 서울시 은평구의 지역사회 자원을 활용한 환경교육 프로그램을 개발하고 이를 실제 수업에 적용해 봄으로써, 지역사회 자원을 활용한 환경교육 프로그램이 초등학생들의 환경친화적 태도에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 이를 위하여 5학년 교육과정을 분석하여 환경교육 요소와 시사점을 도출하고, 은평구의 지역사회 자원을 분석하여 적용할 자원을 추출하여 프로그램을 개발하였다. 개발된 프로그램은 은평구 소재 초등학교 5학년 4개 학급 74명을 대상으로, 사전·사후 단일집단 설계를 통하여 6주에 걸쳐 교과와 창의적 체험활동 시간에 적용하였다. 본 연구를 통해 얻은 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 초등학교 5학년 각 교과에서 다루는 목표와 환경교육의 내용 요소와의 관련성을 고려하여 지역사회 자원을 활용한 환경교육 프로그램을 설계하였다. 둘째, 초등학교 5학년에서 환경교육적 요소가 가장 많이 반영된 사회 교과를 중심으로 그 외 교과 및 창의적 체험활동을 지역사회 자원과 연결시켜 단계별 학습 모형을 수립하고 교육과정을 재구성하였다. 셋째, 환경친화적 태도에 대한 사전· 사후검사 결과, 은평구의 지역사회 자원을 활용한 환경교육 프로그램은 초등학생들의 환경친화적 태도에 통계적으로 유의한 효과를 미쳤다. 또한, 정성적 분석결과 학생들이 지역사회의 환경문제에 관심을 가지고 환경을 소중히 여기는 태도를 실천하 려는 의지를 보여준 것으로 나타났다.

The purpose of this study is to develop an environmental education program using local community resources of Eunpyeong-gu and to investigate the influences on pro-environmental attitudes of 5th graders. To achieve the purposes, an environmental education program was developed by analyzing curriculum, deducing factors and implications of environmental education, and extracting applicable resources of Eunpyeong-gu. The developed program was applied to 4 classes of 5th graders of Eunpyeong-gu for 6 weeks. In order to see how this program affected the students’ pro-environmental attitudes, qualitative and quantitative analysis were both taken. The results were as follows. First, the environmental education program could be designed with considering relevance of goals of 5th graders’ each subject and content factors of environmental education. Second, each level of learning models could be built and curriculum could be reconstructed by connecting social studies, other related subjects and subject of creative activities and local community resources. Third, according to comparing pre-test and post-test of pro-environmental attitudes, the environmental education program brought statistically meaningful effects on elementary students’ pro-environmental attitudes. Also, according to qualitative analysis, students have become more interested in environmental issues of their community and shown their wills on acting out for their precious environment. To wrap up the results of this research, environmental education program using local community resources brings positive effects on making students be interested in environmental issues of their community and fostering their pro-environmental attitudes.
