글로벌 역량에 대한 중요도 - 실행도 분석(IPA): H대학교 학생을 중심으로

The Study on the Importance and Performance Analysis of Global Competence : Focusing on H University Students

본 연구는 글로벌 역량 구성 요소들에 대한 대학생들의 중요도와 실행도 인식을 조사하기 위해 지방소재 4년제 대학인 H대학교 학생들을 대상으로 실시한 설문조사 결과(2,085명)를 중심으로 이루어졌다. 설문조사에 포함된 글로벌 역량에는 영어능력과 자기 표현력, 창의적 사고력, 문화적 개방성 및 글로벌 활동이 포함되었다. 연구 결과, 중요도와 실행도 차이분석에서는 모든 요인에서 중요도가 실행도보다 유의미 하게 높게 나타나 글로벌 역량에 대한 학생들의 교육에 대한 요구를 확인하였다. 특히, 중요도-실행도 분석(Importance-Performance Analysis : IPA)에서 학생들의 교육 요구가 높은 요인은 영어능력의 하위요인인 읽기, 듣기, 말하기 능력이 도출되어 글로벌 역량 제고를 위해 학생들은 영어능력을 우선적 해결과제로 인식하고 있음을 보여주었다. 대학에서 다양한 영어능력 제고 노력이 이루어지고 있음에도 이러한 결과가 도출되고 있는 것은 현재 이루어지고 있는 영어교육에 대한 개선이 학생들의 요구에 맞게 이루어져야함을 시사해주고 있다. 이밖에 지속유지가 필요한 영역에는 자기 표현력, 창의적 사고력, 문화적 개방성이 포함되었다. 우선순위가 낮은 영역에는 영어능력 중 쓰기와 글로벌 활동이 포함되었으며, 과잉노력 지양영역에 포함된 요인은 없는 것으로 나타났다.

It is increasing social demand and interest in human resources with global competence. As a result, universities are working on a variety of efforts to enhance the students competence. The purpose of this study is to analyse the global competence of university students and to provide information necessary in setting a direction for development. In order to analyse global competence, this study measured importance and performance with 2,085 students attending H University. Global competence consisted of 8 factors including English proficiency(reading, listening, speaking, and writing), self-expression capability, creative thinking, cultural flexibility, and global activities. In the difference analysis of importance and performance, importance was significantly higher than performance, which means an effort should be made to enhance the performance in the whole global competence education. Especially, the factor of high demand for students education was the ability of reading, listening and speaking, which are subordinate factors of English ability. In order to improve global competence, students confirmed that English ability is a priority issue. Despite the efforts to improve English proficiency in the university, these results have been suggested that the improvement of the current English education should be done according to the students needs. IPA also showed that factors including self-expression capability, creative thinking, and cultural flexibility should keep up their good work and writing and global activities marked low in priority. There were no possible overkill factors.
