초등학생들의 뮤지엄 체험학습의 교육적 가치 탐색

A Strudy on the Educational Implications of Museum Field Trip for Elementary School Students

오늘날의 뮤지엄은 수집 보존 전시의 역할을 넘어 교육적 역할이 보다 확대되고 있다. 2015 개정 교육과정에서도 뮤지엄 교육의 필요성을 강조하고, 뮤지엄 체험학 습이 능동적 참여 및 학습 촉진, 총체적 예술 경험 기회 제공, 역사문화적 정체성 형성의 의의를 지니고 있음에도 초등학생들에게 유의미한 교육이 이뤄지고 있다고 확신하기는 어렵다. 이에 따라 2016학년도에 이뤄진 초등학교 4～6학년 학생들의 뮤지엄 체험학습에 따른 반응을 질적 연구 방법을 적용하여 분석한 결과 적극적 참여를 통한 학습 흥미 증대, 협력적 상호작용을 통한 고차원적 역량 함양, 몰입과 체험을 통한 학습 내면화, 공감을 통한 역사문화적 가치 함양의 긍정적 반응을 살펴볼 수 있었다. 반면에 소극적 참여 형태로 인한 집중도 저하, 미적 경험과의 괴리로 인한 이해 어려움, 접근성 문제에 따른 피로감 호소의 부정적 반응도 있었다. 이에 따라 내실 있는 뮤지엄 체험학습이 이뤄지기 위해서는 학생들의 발달 단계를 고려하여 능동 적인 참여와 몰입이 가능한 전시를 선정할 뿐만 아니라, 활발한 소통을 통하여 학습이 내면화되고 문화적 정체성을 함양할 수 있는 체험학습 프로그램이 기획 운영되 어야 할 것으로 판단된다.

This thesis was to explore how elementary school students would find the experiences of participating museum field trip as well as the educational implications thereof. In these days, the museum serves not only collection, protection and exhibition roles but also educational roles of cultural heritage. Also 2015 revised national curriculum emphasized the importance of museum education. However it is hard to assure that the museum education is undergoing effectively. Museum field trip has significant meanings for enhancing active learning based on participation, giving the chance of consummatory art experience and pluralistic, building historic-cultural identity. Research subjects consisted of 4～6th grade students at elementary school in Seoul. Students’ products, participant observation, in-depth interviews were used for the materials of this study, These materials were analyzed about various experiences and educational values for museum field trip through domain analysis, triangulation and peer review. The result of research shows 4 kinds of the positive responses and 3 kinds of negative responses. Enhancement of the interest through participation, improvement of high dimensional learning capacity through cooperative interaction, internalization through experience with immersion and cultivation of historic cultural values through sympathy are positively responded from the students. However, students mentioned degradation of concentration through passive participation, hardship of understanding and fatigue caused by the distance as negative responses. Therefore, selecting the exhibition fit to the development stage of children and operating the program with participation and communication would be essential to promote effective museum filed trip.
