Economic Analysis of Ostrich Farm Management in Korea

Since the ostriches were first imported in 1997, the number of ostrich farms has been drastically increased. In this study, the economic analysis was made for the ostrich farm management. To date, the number of ostrich farms is 1,000 and a total number of ostriches is 15,000 to 20,000, which is as good size as those in other countries. As compared with other species in livestock, ostrich farm management yielded the higher profit than other species in terms of profit per production unit. From the results Of analysis, it was recommended to manage ostrich farming for both the distribution of growing ostriches and total production system, and to establish the strategies for sales marketing as well.
