China s Hog Industry and the Prospects of Pork Trade between Korea and China

This paper gives a comprehensive view on China s hog industry and examines the trend of production and consumption, export and import, production pattern, production cost and price, distribution channel of hog and pork, government policy and the trade possibility between Korea and China. Though the importation of pork from China is prohibited by the outbreak of foot and mouth disease in China, the importation of low priced bacon belly and rib is quite within the bounds of possibility in the future. In parallel, we will have a good possibility in the exportation of high quality meat such as tenderloin and loin. There will be a fair chance to make inroads into the Chinese market for feed industry, breeding industry.
