Strategies for Food Security Policy in Korea

In recently, the food security level has decreased in Korea. Although food security can be addressed at the household, national and global level, the most important thing is national food security. The purpose of this study is to analysis food security level and to find out appropriate food policy for the raising domestic self-sufficiency through making sustainable use of the natural resources in agricultural sector. In order to maintain and improve the food security level, it is essential for a country to keep agricultural production, magnification of direct payment system, introduction of public saving system for emergency and the grain exchange center, making out the legal basis of food security, and diversification of importing countries including mutual cooperation.
