Estimation of Production Risk in the Korean Rice Sector

This article attempts to estimate the measures of the risk on rice production in the Korea. The risks are estimated using the data of rice production per 10a for the years 1971~2002, with cumulative distribution function. We find that logistic cumulative distribution was found best to fit to all the case, and the rice production is stable in Korea. In 2005, there will be 770,579~847,636ha of rice field according to risk prospects to make the equilibrium between supply and demand of rice in Korea.
