미국 푸드스탬프제도의 효과와 우리나라에의 도입 필요성에 관한 고찰

An Evaluation of Food Stamp Program and Its Feasibility in Korea

The purpose of this study is to examine the food insecurity of the poor households and discuss issues associated with the introduction of a food assistance program in Korea such as Food Stamp Program. Findings from the survey of the recipient households of the National Basic Livelihood Security System(NBLSS) and the non-recipient poor households show that 95,3% of the sample household appeared to be food insecure. Regarding the designing of a food assistance program, we recommend that ⑴ the program target the poor households who are not eligible to the NBLSS, and ⑵ an electronic benefit transfer system operate in order to alleviate the recipients stigma to the program participation and reduce administration costs of the program.
