제주감자의 산지유통실태와 개선방향

Problems and Suggestions for Improvement in Jeju White Potato Marketing

The aim of this study is to investigate the problems in White potato marketing and to suggest for improvement in production and distribution of the producing area. From January 15, 2001 to February 15, 2001, this research was conducted by a individual interview, using a structuralized questinonaire, to 147 potato farmers and 26 potato merchants who live in Daejeong, Seongsan, Gujwa, Andeuk areas, which are the main potato producing areas around Jeju-do. As a results, in order to regulate the shipment and production of white potato in Jeju, it is necessary for Zakmokban(marketing organization) and cooperative association of the main potato production area, such as Daejeong, Seongan, Gujwa, Andeuk, Hangyeong which were formed a network, named tentatively the Council for the Regulation of Potato Shipment and Production(corporate body). The council also prepares a self-helps funds to cope with common projects such as production and shipment control, marketing promotion, market pioneering, etc. The white potato production in Jeju has a characteristic of the niche market. And it is necessary to develop the forecasting and distribution system of Jeju white potato, considering the production period of the mainland.
