Milk supply control programs enacted to decrease surplus in dairy sector were surveyed. The results show that the pooled price under differentiated pricing system applied to farms supplying to the Korea Dairy Committee is by far lower than that farms supplying directly to dairies receive. In addition, both the dairy retirement program and dairy diversion program aimed for voluntary reduction of surplus are not market oriented and leave room for improvement. For effective supply management, trade off between market oriented and mandatory production control measures seems inevitable.
