A study on the feasibility of trade of raw milk between Korea and Japan

This study aims to analyze the feasibility of trade of raw milk between Korea and Japan. For this, both simultaneous equation and spatial equilibrium models were adopted. Assuming perfectively competitive market, unilateral trade of raw milk from Korea to Japan seems Plausible in both models. Under the Cournot assumption in the latter model, however, it turned out that bilateral trade of raw milk between two countries is possible. This implies that the amount of raw milk imported from Hokkaido can render non-negligible impacts to liquid milk market in Korea. So care need to be taken in dealing with dairy products in the Korea-Japan FTA(Free Trade Agreement) negotiation.
