Trends and Causes of Income Variability of Green House Vegetable Farming

This study was attempted to examine the trends of income variability which green house vegetable farmers cultivating seven crops have experienced since 1985 and to analyze its extents and factors in terms of instability and uncertainty. Analytical results show that, although income level relative to general farming continues increasing except for water melon during whole periods, there appears to be evidence for widening gap in growth and variation of income among crops particularly after 1997 s economic crisis. In context of identifying factors to affect the variability of income, it is estimated that the more supply and the less per capita income, the higher possibility of lowering income level causing instability problem and also uncertainty problem adversely occurred by income variation is likely to be caused by growing yield per 10a, high income of last year and unanticipated burden of cost.
