Policy Direction for Environmentally Friendly Reorganization of Highland Agriculture

The objectives of this study are to investigate the status of environmental loading and farming management of highland agriculture by survey and to suggest the directions for reorganizing environmentally friendly highland agriculture. The results show that highland agriculture needs to be reshaped by considering both agricultural production and environmental preservation. Thus, we should be analyzed the environmental effects of highland agriculture and then be formulated a model for assessing environmental loading. After that, the study needs to consider the synthetic and systematic reorganizing methods for sustaining highland agriculture through establishing supplementary facilities, substituting crops, and switching farming practices. In addition, we needs to develop programs for sustaining highland agriculture, which is socially, technically, and economically acceptable based on investigating costs and benefits from introducing a new agri-environmental measure.
