Factors on Expenditure Decision of Milk and Beverage among Urban Households

This paper aims to analyze the determinants of urban households on milk and beverage consumption therefore to provide the policy makers and producers with the some implications regarding and marketing. Full information maximum likelihood are adopted to estimate censored system equations using the data from Urban Households Survey released by Korea National Statistical Office in 2004.The empirical expenditure function consisted of socio- democratic variables such as meal-planners age, sex and education, household size, the number of children or adolescents, characteristics of household like single mom, and income. This study found that the inverse relationship between milk and beverage and the role of the number of children or adolescents played a significant role in consuming milk and beverage. This study has some limitations, however, the results of this study would be applied for understanding the factors affecting milk expenditure decision and making policies regarding milk consumption.
