The Effects and Tasks of Environment Friendly Rice Cluster on Activation of Regional Agriculture

The purpose of the study is to examine effects and tasks of an environment friendly rice cluster on a regional agriculture development. Total 153 farms were selected for analysis: 46 farms from Gangjin, 40 from Boseong, 30 from Goheung, and 37 farms from Suncheon. Based on the survey, frequency analysis, ANOVA, factor analysis, and regression analysis were implemented using SPSS 12.0. Factor analysis was implemented on 17 variables to investigate effects of a environment friendly rice cluster on a regional agriculture development. Eigen values more than 1 were named factor 1 (networking and production infrastructure), factor 2(marketing and sales), and factor 3(process and manufacture), respectively. Overall, those factors toward independent variables were statistically significant. Standardized estimates indicated that effects of three independent variables on a regional agriculture development were positively significant: factor 1(.461), factor 2(.337), and factor 3(.091). The study presented that a development of new species suited for environment friendly agricultural practices, and price and quality competitiveness were important elements. This suggests that a development of new value-added commodities should be accomplished. The study demonstrated that while constructions for a production infrastructure and network were important parts for future success of a environment friendly rice cluster, an exchange between rural and urban area and tourist attractions, an area related to information, and an introduction of production and marketing trace system were relatively less important.
