전통 명승에 부여된 인문적 가치의 내용과 실제 사례

A Study on the Contents and Examples of Humanistic Value for Traditional Landscape of Scenic Beauty

본 연구는 경관 유산의 경험에 관여하는 무형적 가치에 관한 해외의 연구를 종합적으로 적용하여 전통 명승의 인문적 가치를 세 가지 하위 유형, 즉 역사적·심미적·정신적 가치로 범주화했다. 그 다음으로 전통 명승에 속하는 포항 내연산계곡에 이러한 세 가지 가치를 실제로 적용해 보았다. 그 결과 역사적 가치는 인공경관에 투영되는 경향이 우세하며 바위각자는 특정한 역사적 인물로 인해 역사적 가치가 부여되었다. 심미적 가치는 경관미가 뛰어난 자연경관에 투영되는 경향이 우세하며 폭포와 바위의 절경은 위대한 예술작품을 통해 심미적 가치가 부여되었다. 정신적 가치는 인공경관과 자연경관 모두에 두루 투영되며 경관요소의 특성에 따라 정신적 가치가 다양한 양상으로 부여되었다. 이상과 같은 연구 결과는 명승의 지정·관리·활용을 위하여 인문적 가치를 분석하고 평가하는 방법론을 구축하는데 일조가 될 것이다.

This study aims to categorize three subordinate types of humanistic value in the case of “traditional landscape of scenic beauty.” Based on the critical review on the theories of ‘landscape heritage’, ‘heritage place’, and ‘intangible value’ in the environmental aesthetics, it could come up with three sub-categories of humanistic values: historic, aesthetic, spiritual. From the application of these sub-categories to the case of Pohang Naeyeonsan valley, it is discovered that historical value was prominently projected on the artificial landscape, such as the letters that were inscribed on the rocks of Naeyeonsan valley by historical figures. Aesthetic value was projected mainly on the natural landscape of outstanding scenic beauty, such as the waterfalls and rocks, by art works including landscape paintings. By contrast, spiritual value was projected on both artificial landscape and natural landscape in various aspects mainly by scholar-officials during the Joseon Dynasty(1392-1910). Such a categorization and clarification of humanistic value and its application to the real case of Naeyeonsan valley finally proposes a possibility of using humanistic value for the designation, protection and utilization of “traditional landscape of scenic beauty” as a national and local heritage.
