A Study on the History of Miss Korea Contestants Style

According to an analysis of the history of the Miss Korea contestants’ beauty styles, distinctive features were found by period. In terms of the history of the Miss Korea contestants’ hairstyles, iron permanent wave and hair accessory-based up-styles appeared in the beginning. In the 1970-80s, long hairstyles with more natural waves were popular under the influence of blow dryers. In the 1990s, a relatively heavy texture and strong wave were found due to the popularity of long hairstyles. Entering the 2000s, straight hair has been in the mainstream with the emergence of ‘magic straight.’ In makeup as well, a natural makeup that emphasizes a natural skin tone, not exaggerated dark and heavy makeup, was introduced. There was a shift from a Cute image to refined, intelligent and feminine image as a large part of the current trend.
