The purpose of this study was to assess the postoperative stability using the 21 patients who underwent simultaneous mobilization of the maxilla and mandible for correction of dentofacial deformities. Preoperative. Immediately postsurgical, and 1-year postsurgical cephalometric data were analysed and compared. There was no significant difference of the angle of Sn-ArGo and the mandibular plane angle between immediately postsurgical and 1-year postsurgical data. Although there was no significant difference of the horizontal change of A point between immediately postsurgical and 1-year postsurgical data(P>0.05). but, there was significant difference of the horizontal change of the point B(P<0.05) and pogonion(P<0.01). There was significant difference of the horizontal change of the pogonion point in the group of the mandibular movement above than 10mm, but not, less than 100mm. Although the maxilla remained relatively stable after surgery with both fixation techniques, mandibular stability was much greater with rigid fixation than non-rigid. The frequence of relapse of the horizontal projection of gnathion, more the horizontal change of 1mm. Was 39%. Although no single parameter is responsible for the development of relapse, results showed that it was more stable in the maxilla than the mandible, with rigid fixation than non-rigid, and when the amount of mandibular movement was less than 10mm than above.
