The purpose of this study is to analyze the position of Korean residents in Japan through the life of Korean women. In the historical reality of economic and social confusion, the purpose of this study is to examine how the concept of gender was formed as Korean women had to live the lives of the minority who were discriminated and excluded from doing their own roles and how the variables of nationality were crossed and influenced. The results of the study are as follows. First, the lives of the first generation of Korean-Japanese women were analyzed as a victim of colonization and the daughter’s life as an invisible being due to the double discrimination. After migrations, as a result of the process of marriage, the family becomes unable to escape poverty. Korean-Japanese women play a role as their caregivers obtain equal economic positions. The most important identity formed in the process of life of Korean Japanese women is “identity as mother.” As a minority of Japanese society, it seems that they have strengthened their identity as mother in order to maintain their families and prevent their dissolution. Therefore, the national consciousness of them and their children were also shaped and changed in the framework of the family.
