Many authors have revealed the osteoinduction capacity of demineralized allogeneic bone powder (DBP) in the mice. Rat, rabbit, and dogs. Therefore, the DBP has the clinical usefulness in the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery for filling gaps of cysts, benign tumors and fracture malunions. This study was designed to evaluate the tissue response after implantation of the freeze-dried and demineralized allogeneic bone block(FD) compared with the deep-frozen allogeneic bone(DF), autografted bone(A), and whether osteogenesis, osteo-induction of osteo-conduction is occurred. Obtained results were as follows: 1. Inflammatory cell infiltration appeared at 1 week and disappeared at 4 weeks in both autograft and allograft group, especially severe in deep-froze group. 2. Osteoblastic activity incresed at 4 weeks, and decreased at 6 weeks and there were no difference between autograft, freeze-dried ad demineralized group after 6 weeks. 3. New bone formation began at 1 week, first apperaed at autograft group and followed by freezedried and demineralized bone group and deep frozen bone group but there were no difference at 6 to 8 weeks. 4. Bone resorption appeared at 1 week and disappeared at 4 weeks in both autograft and allograft group, especially severe in deep-frozen group.
