General anesthesia is necessary to operation in dept. of oral and maxillofacial surgery. Halothane is one of the most commonly used anesthetic agent for general anesthesia. Halothane is a nonexplosive fluorinated hydrocarbon anesthetic agent and structurally similar to chloroform. Halothane has been reported to result in severe hepatic necrosis in a small number of individuals. A genetic predisposition leading to an idiosyncratic metabolic reactivity has been postulated. We experienced and reported 3 cases of halothane hepatitis that occured following halothane anesthesia for facial bone fracture with the review of the relevant literatures.
