Mandibular growth results from development of it s five independent skeletal units. It has been reported that there is an intercorrelation between the growth of the condylar and the coronoid processes. This relationship might be one of the most important reference factors in the diagnosis of condylar growth which causes craniofacial deformities. To study the interrelationship between condylar and coronoid processes in a Korean adult s normal face, we selected 42 females and 30 males who have normal faces. With their panoramic views, we measured the length of condylar and coronoid processes. The results were as follows : In Korean adult normal faces : 1. There was a high correlation in the length between the condylar and the coronoid processes unilaterally, and between both condyles and between both coronoides. 2. In both sexes, the absolute length of condylar and coronoid processes between the two groups were significantly different, and absolute lengths of males were higher than those of females. However there was no significant difference in the linear ratio(CON/COR) between the two groups. 3. In the female group, the ratio(CON/COR) was 1.152±0.077, and 1.135±0.081 in the male. The total mean ratio was 1.145±0.079.
