A case report on squamous cell carcinoma of the buccal mucosa

This is a case report and review of literature that deals with a squamous cell carcinoma of the buccal mucosa. Patient, 47 years old male, was complained 6f an abnormal mass of the left buccal mucosa. The mass was in size of 3×3㎝, protruded one. The homolateral lymph node was palpated in size of 1.5×1.5㎝. We diagnosed it as a squamous cell carcinoma. And it was T₂N₁M₀ Stage Ⅲ. After 3 cycle of chemotherapy, the resection of the mass and neck dissection was accomplished. By O Brien classification, Level Ⅰ, Ⅱ, Ⅲ lymph nodes were dissected. The defect of the buccal cheek was immediately reconstructed by the deltopectoral flap without delay. One year after surgery, he has complained of mouth opening limitation but not showed any sign of recurrence of the cancer.
