Surgical correction of bimaxillary protrusion by anterior segmental osteotomy : report of 2 cases

In the bimaxillary protusion, anterior teeth are severely protruded, although jaw protusions may or may not be present. Lip incompetence, lip strain on closure and thick-looking lips are found in these conditions. This is to report 2 Cases of bimaxillary protrusion which were corrected by anterior segmental osteotomies. We used different surgical techniques in each patient: In the case 1, simultaneous Wunderer an Kole techniques were performed. In the case 2, mandibular Kole procedure, staged palatal grooving and partial glossectomy at the 1st operation, maxillary downfracturing technique at the 2nd operation were performed. Postoperative course was uneventful and the patients were fully satisfied with the cosmetic and functional improvement.
