Internal derangement of TMJ is defined as a malrelation of the meniscus to the condylar head and articular eminence. The most frequent signs and symptoms are preauricular functional pain, joint noise, masticatory muscle tenderness and locking of the jaw. Diagnosis of internal derangement can be made from the history and physical examination in most patients. TMJ arthrography should be performed in most patients for whom irreversible treatment such as surgical treatment, mandibular reposition therapy is indicated. Generally, if prior nonsurgical treatment is ineffective, or the disease is chronic and severe, surgical method is indicated. We treated 3 patients of internal derangement of TMJ as various methods.
