Mandibular fractures in children are relatively infrequent, although they may sustain this type of injury from falls, automobile accidents, playground accidents and so on. The management of condylar fractures in children has caused concern among clinicians. In this investigation the author analyzed clinically and radiographically the condylar fractures in children age under 15 years which had been experienced at the Chosun University dental hospital. The results were as follows: 1. The prevalance of jaw fractures in children age under 15 years were 10.8%, and condylar fractures of them were 37%. 2. As the figure of fractures were revealed generally greenstick type which was bent medially, so was bent medially the cases of complete fracture with displace were showed also. 3. The treatment of fractures was mostly conservative that maintained simple intermaxillary fixation for less than 2 weeks, and did not appear any complications. 4. The repair of medially bent condylar process was initiated distinctively in radiograms 3 months after returned to original position 6 months generally. 5. The resorption of displaced condyle was initiated at 6 months and was distinct 1 year after in radiograms. 6. Increase of radiodensity on the fractured condyle region 3 months after suggested the recontouring of condyle with new bone formation.
