Ameloblastoma is one of the most controversial tumors of jaw. Greater diversity of opinion was existed concerning the terminology, diagnosis, microscopic classification, clinical behavior, treatment and malignant potential of this tumor than any other neoplasm found anywhere in the body. Ameloblastoma is a benign but locally invasive neoplasm consisting of proliferating odontogenie epithelium lying in a fibrous stroma. The ameloblastoma originates in the mandible in 80 per cent of the cases. Maxilla is the less common region about 20 per cent of the cases. We present a case of 55-year old man with swelling on right anterior maxilla with the first clinical impression of myxoma. The tumor mass was removed with en bloc under general anesthesia. Microscopically it was diagnosed as acanthomatous ameloblastoma. The patient tolerated the anesthetic and surgical procedure well and was discharged in good condition on the seventh postoperative day.
