To evaluate the post-surgical behavicr of mandiblar proximal fragments in the patient of mandible prognathism, authors made the investigation for relapse trend by measuring of cephalometric radiographic analysis pre-and post-surgery on the 18 patients of mandible prognathism who had the sagittal rami splitting operation by means of Dal-pont s technique from the year of March 1981 up to Sept. 1982. The Radiographs were taken 3 times for the each patient, just presurgery, post surgery within 3 to 6 days after operation and post-surgery within 35 to 55 days after all retaining appliences are removed considering long term evaluation. The purpose of this article is following several folds, for instance, to predictably good treatment result by offering to discuss the sequence of surgery in the correction of prognathic deformity, and to emphasize predictable relapse trend after corrected positional change which will be result of successive operation, and to discuss surgery results attained with the use of the Dal-pont s operation approach. Some remarkable sequences were disclosed as like followings; 1) We have found relapsed cephalometric profiles in 12 cases (66.7%) of total investigated patients, and which are showed almost 18.9% by measuring of S.N.B. angulation and 28.6% by A.N.B. angulation of total surgical backward replaced amounts. 2) Post-surgical height change of anterior total facial height and anterior lower facial height were much bigger in severe protruded cases than that of lesser one. 3) Not so much significant changes were revealed in the measuring of facial and mandible plane angle.
