‘민화’를 활용한 한국어 문화교육 방안

A Journal on a Strategy for Korean Cultural and Language Education Using Folk Painting , Centering on Magpie and Tiger

본고는 문화교육의 한 분야로 한국의 민화를 활용하는 방안을 제시하였다. 민화는 우리 겨레의 대중적이고 한국적인 미술장르로 꿈과, 신화, 종교, 정신이 깃들어 있다. 본고는 이러한 민화를 외국인 학습자에게 소개하고 함께 감상하면서 한국 전통 미술을 감상하는 미적 심미안을 기르면서 동시에 한국어 교육을 병행하는 방안을 제시하였다. 이를 위해 한 예로 까치호랑이 의 학술적 배경을 간략히 고찰하고 이를 교육할 수 있는 방안을 제시하였다. 호랑이는 한국인의 신화와 전설, 민담, 속담, 그림 등에 자주 등장하는 동물이다. 단군신화부터 오늘날까지 호랑이 이야기는 한국인의 감정과 소망과 사상을 담고 있다고 할 수 있을 만큼 독특한 문화를 가지고 있다고 할 수 있다. 교수법으로는 내용중심교수법을 선택하였다. 구체적인 본시 교수학습 방안은 3차시 분량으로 도입- 제시- 전개 및 활동- 정리 의 순서로 하였다. 까치호랑이 를 학습하면서 한국의 전통 그림에서 표현의 단순미와 파격미 같은 구조와 구도를 알 수 있다. 또한 한국의 전통 색채인 오방색에 대해서 알 수 있으며 음양오행, 산악신앙, 벽사진영의 의미를 알 수 있다. 그리고 그림을 통해 한국인의 우주관, 고유한 신앙, 생활풍속을 이해하면서 한국 문화적 상징성을 알 수 있다. 본고는 한국의 전통 그림을 활용한 한국어교육이 전무한 교육현장에서 까치호랑이 를 비롯한 한국의 전통 민화를 교육이 학습의 재미를 느끼면서 한국의 전통문화에 가깝게 다가갈 수 있을 것이라고 기대한다.

This journal suggests a strategy on the use of Korean folk painting for cultural education. Folk painting is the most popular Korean-style art genre which contains dreams, mythology, religion and the spirit of our people. For this strategy, folk painting was introduced to foreign students and they were encouraged to appreciate Korean traditional art, through this the students could develop an aesthetic sense and were encouraged to learn the Korean language actively. For this process, this study examined the academic background of Magpie and Tiger briefly and developed an educational strategy. Tiger is an animal which frequently appears in Korean mythology, ancient stories, folk tales, proverbs and paintings. Many stories on Tiger beginning in Tan-gun mythology are distinctive in culture as they contain the Korean people s ideas, feelings and hopes. As a teaching method, a content-oriented teaching method was used. A specific educational plan was composed of the following processes: introduction, presentation, development with activities, and organization in three lessons. Through the Magpie and Tiger , students can learn the simplicity and innovation in the expression of Korean traditional painting. Also students learn the five traditional Korean colors called Obangseak, and the meanings of Yin and Yang, mountain worship, and exorcism. Through painting, they understand the Korean people s viewpoint on the cosmos, peculiar worship styles, as well as lives, manners, customs, and Korean cultural symbolism. This journal expects that Korean language education using Korean traditional folk painting, which has never been tried before, will encourage students to have more interest in Korean traditional culture including Magpie and Tiger and to delve further to it.
