A Study on Sanyan(三言) Poetry

본고는 중국 고전백화소설 분야에서는 그간 詩가 소설 속에서 기능하는 역할에 대한 고찰이 부족했던 점을 들어 ‘三言’을 통해 소설 속 시의 유형과 역할에 대해 고찰하였다. 중국 고전백화소설 속의 詩와 같은 운문들은 講唱文學의 토대 위에서 백화소설로 발전하는 과정에서 작품의 예술적 표현력을 높이고, 중국 고전백화소설이 서양소설과는 구별되는 독특한 형식으로 변모하는 데에 있어서 중요한 요소로 작용해왔다. 이에 본고는 초기 화본소설들이 시를 활용해온 변화과정을 살펴보고, 명말 ‘삼언’에 이르러 시가 소설 속에서 어떤 유형과 역할로 변천하여 정착하게 되었는지 고찰하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 먼저 삼언 속 시를 開場詩·散場詩·本文詩의 세 가지 형식으로 분류하고, 각 위치별 시의 유형과 그 특징을 살펴보았다. 또한 개장시·산장시·본문시는 어떤 역할을 위해 존재하며, 각각의 위치에 따라 그 역할이 어떻게 상이한지에 대해서도 살펴보았다. 본 연구를 통해 향후 ‘삼언’ 이외의 중국 고전백화소설 속 시가에 대한 연구가 보다 활성화 되기를 기대하며, 아울러 이러한 연구가 중국 고전백화소설뿐만 아니라 중국 고전시 분야에서도 주목할 만한 주제로 판단된다.

In this study, type and role of poetry in a novel were considered through Sanyan in view of the fact that in Chinese classic Baek hwa novel (colloquial style novel) field, function of poetry in a novel was not sufficiently considered. Verses like poetry in Chinese classic Baek hwa novel played an important role in increasing artistic expression and transforming into a unique style being discriminated from western novel in a process of being developed to Baekhwa novel based on Jiangchang literature. Under this background, in this study, changing process of utilizing poetry by early Hua Ben novel was observed and in Sanyan at the end of Myeong Dynasty, how poetry was changed and settled down in novel in terms of its type and role was intended to be considered. For this objective, first, poetry in Sanyan was classified into 3 styles including prologue poetry, epilogue poetry and text poetry and type and characteristics of poetry by each position was observed. In addition, what kind of role such poetries played and how its role was different by each position was observed as well. It is expected that a study on verses in Chinese classic Baek hwa novel in addition to Sanyan would be more activated through this study in the future and additionally, it is considered that this study would becomes a noteworthy topic not only in Chinese classic Baek hwa novel but also in the field of Chinese classic poetry.
