Determinants of Family Capital, Performances in Korean Family Businesses

본 연구는 가족기업만이 가지고 있는 가족자본을 통해 기업 경영에 얼마나 영향을 미치는지를 고찰한 논문으로, 가족 자본, 기업윤리, 경영성과 등과 관련된 문헌을 가족관을 중심으로 분석하고 있다. 구체적인 분석내용은 첫 번째, 가족관은 협력적 대화를 통해 형성되며, 협력적 대화는 윤리적 규범을 작성하는데 기여한다. 두 번째, 윤리적 규범은 가족 자본의 성장을 촉진한다. 세 번째, 가족 자본은 가족기업의 경영성과에 영향을 끼친다. 네 번째, 열린 대화는 윤리적 규범을 매개로 하여 가족자본의 형성에 영향을 끼친다. 다섯 번째, 윤리적 규범은 가족자본을 매개로 하여 경영성과에 영향을 끼치는 지를 알아본다. 본 연구는 위의 내용을 확인하기 위하여 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 분석결과 열린 대화가 윤리적 규범에 긍정적인 영향을 미치며(가설 1), 윤리적 규범 역시 가족자본에 긍정적인 영향을(가설 2), 그리고 가족자본 역시 가족기업의 경영성과에 긍정적인 영향을 미치고 있음(가설3)을 알아내었다. 다음으로 매개효과 분석방법을 통해 열린 대화가 윤리적 규범을 매개역할을 하여 가족자본에 긍정적인 영향을 미치며(가설 4), 윤리적 규범은 가족자본이 매개역할을 하여 경영성과에 긍정적인 영향을 끼침(가설 5)을 알아내었다. 본 연구는 가족자본의 개념과 가족자본의 형성요인, 그리고 우리나라 가족기업의 경영성과에 끼치는 요인을 실증적으로 분석한 최초의 논문이란 점에 의의가 있다 하겠다.

This is a study on how much influence is exerted on corporate management by the family capital uniquely owned by family businesses, and analyzes the documentation related to family capital, corporate ethics, management performance and such, focusing on the perspective on family. As for detailed analysis, first, the perspective on family is formed through collaborative dialogue, which then contributes to the construction of ethical norms. Second, ethical norms promote the growth of the family capital. Third, the family capital influences the management performance of family businesses. Fourth, an open dialogue influences the formation of family capital through the medium of ethical norms. Fifth, the ethical norms influence the management performance through the medium of family capital. In order to verify the above, this study executed regression analysis. As the result of the analysis, it was found that the open dialogue had a positive influence on the ethical norms (hypothesis 1), the ethical norms also had a positive influence on the family capital (hypothesis 2), and the family capital also had a positive influence on the management performance of the family business (hypothesis 3). Next, through the mediated effect analysis method, it was found that the open dialogue had a positive influence on the family capital through the medium of ethical norms (hypothesis 4), and the ethical norms had a positive influence on the management performance through the medium of family capital (hypothesis 5). This study is significant in that it is the first one that empirically analyzed the concept and the formative factors of family capital, and the influence on the management performance of family businesses of Korea.
