The Current Status and Proposal of Comparable Corpus-based Translation Studies

Since Baker(1995) studying translation universals, especially simplification with comparable corpus, several comparable corpus-based translation studies have been done. Laviosa(2002) is a typical study which identified simplification of translated text based on comparable corpus. Comparable corpus-based translation study is the crucial research task necessary to establish translation theory not only abroad but also at home. Therefore this paper investigated the current status of comparable corpus-based translation studies, and presented research direction of comparable corpus-based translation studies at home. Identifying the current status at home makes us check what research subjects are needed. And the proposal for comparable corpus-based translation study can be a guideline to following researchers want to use comparable corpus.
