Translation for Compliments and Cross-linguistic Interference:

This study examined translational patterns of B college translation majors and determined correlations between linguistic interference and translation strategy in their translation products on CRs. The outstanding phenomenon from this study obviously presented that socio-linguistic power sank in their translation strategy selections: a polychromic language culture in which L1 users tend to have a higher tendency of self-humility, concerning the importance of external factors, such as the cultural milieu, language use, and face-related word selections, which played an active role in their choice of translational approaches. With regard to gender-specific disparities, the female students positively translated the compliments more legibly than the males. Building upon these findings, this research puts forward the necessity of culture-centric courses with an emphasis on cross-cultural skills, a milieu in which students can springboard their cross-cultural awareness in translation courses.
